Sheriff Arpaio Calls DOJ Report 'Sad Day for America'

Maricopa County (Ariz.) Sheriff Joe Arpaio fired back at federal investigators who accused his office of discriminatory policing in a report. Arpaio called it a Pearl Harbor-style sneak attack and political pandering by the Obama administration

Maricopa County (Ariz.) Sheriff Joe Arpaio called a federal report accusing his office of discriminatory policing "a sad day for America as a whole."

The report released Thursday found that Arpaio's office carried out a pattern of discrimination against Latinos. During a press conference, the Justice Department accused the sheriff's agency of racially profiling Latinos, retaliating against critics of its practices, and operating jails in a way that discriminates against Spanish speakers.

At his own news conference on Friday, Arpaio called it a Pearl Harbor-style sneak attack and political pandering by the Obama administration, reports Fox News.

"President Obama and the band of his merry men might as well erect their own pink neon sign at the Arizona-Mexico border saying 'Welcome all illegals to your United States, our home is your home,'" Sheriff Arpaio said.
