Obama Slashes National Guard at Mexico Border
December 16, 2011
|
Early next year, President Obama will cut back the number of National Guard troops patrolling the U.S.-Mexico border by half as a cost-cutting measure.
The move, which has yet to be announced by the White House, was made public by Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), reports the Washington Times.
Obama deployed 1,200 guard troops to the border in June 2010 to bolster the U.S. Border Patrol and try to prevent the growing drug violence in Mexico from spilling into the U.S.
