Radical Church to Picket Va. Tech Officer's Funeral

December 12, 2011  |

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan. announced plans to picket at the funeral of Virginia Tech Police Officer Deriek W. Crouse on Monday.

Officer Crouse's funeral will begin at 2 p.m. at Cassell Coliseum, and WBC members plan to protest for 45 minutes before the funeral service, starting at 1:15 p.m.

Six members of the WBC will be picketing, according to Fred Phelps Jr., son of WBC pastor Fred Phelps Sr. "The law enforcement across this nation has for years refused to do their duty and protect the people," Phelps Jr. said. "There is a price to be paid when you do that to God."

So, If some 1096 subject was to unfortunately kill one of the protesting A
WBC nut jobs, what would God be punishing the WBC scrotum for?

Don Hurley @ 12/12/2011 2:18 PM

This Officer gave his life so that MANY Others would live, im glad im retired , sick of a bunch on ungrateful people!!!

Jake @ 12/12/2011 3:04 PM

The Phelps family are an evil group, I will NEVER understand why the Baptist has not expelled this group, they give the church a black eye and we all know how they picket the U S military.

R Frost @ 12/12/2011 3:04 PM

Sickening. This man gave so much for his country and his community. Too bad Phelps, Jr. has never done anything worthy of heroism in his life so he has to denigrate others who have always lived so much better than him.

John Jackson @ 12/12/2011 3:21 PM

It is so tragic that these folks parade under the guize of Christianity, but practice the deads of Lucifer. Thank God, I survived 30+ years, and we pray for the family of this fine officer that was killed after unsuspecting violence.

Give the WBC a Bible and tell them to read 1 Cor 13:4...4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres

And then check out Mathew 7..judging others you will be judged!

"The law enforcement across this nation has for years refused to do their duty and protect the people," Phelps Jr. said. "There is a price to be paid when you do that to God." I wonder what LE ever refused to help him with? This makes me sick....The officer and his family deserve a wonderful ceremony...He gave his life for others, and these people who are low of the low have to ruin it.....going to be saddening to see that...

Tony @ 12/12/2011 4:15 PM

If some subject decided to kick the crap out them who would these pieces of feces call. If they show and any thing happens maybe the officers responding should have unit trouble.

Cvbrown @ 12/12/2011 4:55 PM

This group threatened to picket at the funeral of a local soldier. The comunity came together and lined the route to the funeral. They must have been

Intimidated because they didn't show up. An officer's funeral is normally well attended, so if the community pitches in to keep the outsiders out, the family might be spared from being affected by such ignorant, disrespectful individuals. May God bless this officer's family and coworkers while welcoming this officer into His kingdom.

TripWire @ 12/12/2011 6:21 PM

These idiots protested the funerals of a couple of guys from my unit, the only reason we didn't run them out of town was out of respect for the families of the soldiers. Why they think that God would make them the guardians of His kingdom is beyond me. As far as I'm concerned they can all burn in hell.

Stan @ 12/12/2011 9:53 PM

We had them protesting a funeral in our city and all we did was make it clear to the cummunity that a strong showing of support would make any effort on their part inconsequential.

keyhole @ 12/13/2011 3:54 AM

Many times they will say that they will picket, and never show. Only reason they do anything is to get an response, and a reason to file suit. They care little about what they "protest".

Bill @ 12/13/2011 5:07 AM

Any chance someone had the NYPD contingent stationed close to the protestors?

Lt. Dan Birdsley @ 12/13/2011 6:40 AM

God's peace to the officer and his family and friends. Tripwire, you are on the right track. They are idiots if they think they are the guardians of his kingdom. These people use this "calling" to be troublemakers and to seek attention. The problem comes when the bleeding hearts are so concerned that everyone has the right to say what they feel, they go overboard and trample on the rights of, in this case, grieving family, friends and associates, in order to allow them this opportunity for seeking attention. These same men and women they disrespect have died to make sure they have that "right!" It truly is disgusting to see how the principles this country was founded upon have been skewed. It would seem the only people that have the right to say what they feel are this vocal minority.

Jomamma @ 12/14/2011 8:13 AM

I've personally seen Law enforcement officers/K9's protect these individuals (insert other less kind word here) when they show up to protest military events, schools, funerals, etc. Their desire is to get on the news and in the paper and the media is more than happy to help them reach that objective. More often than not the news reports on it and they dont even show up. They have picketed my business for several years in different locations (Military Tradeshows) They continuosly waste LE resources who are required to stand around and protect them from dumptruck drivers who are prone to seizures while driving ( I had that conversation with a Police Sgt one day while they picketed one of my expos and I was providing the officers and their K9 with ice water (july in the south)). The only thing that can stop them is to come up with the most offensive legal recourse anyone could possibly imagine: A gay pride parade and 3 day celebration in the town of Westboro Kansas complete with the most colorful and outspoken rainbow participants demonstrating their right to free speech in front of the Westboro Baptist church. I would pay to see them take some of their own medicine when the most offensive thing to them shows up at the front door of their church on Sunday morning. Where is Karma when you need it? LOL

chaney @ 12/14/2011 11:32 AM

They make me sick. Our children don't have freedom of speech in our schools but these scum can be protected under the consitution. They "TRIED" to pull this in my town for one of our finest officers who lost his life by the hands of a convict. It didn't work. R.I.P. 208
