UC Berkeley Shooting Probably ‘Suicide by Cop’
December 07, 2011

The fatal shooting of a student at the University of California, Berkeley, last month was most likely suicidal, the UC Berkeley Police Department has announced.
An investigation by the university concludes that Christopher Travis intentionally caused the events that led to his being shot by a UCPD officer on Nov. 15, reports the Daily Californian.
When police confronted Travis in a third-floor computer lab, he pulled out the gun and "displayed it in a threatening manner." When he refused to drop the weapon, the officer fired multiple shots.
In response to the shooting, the school pledged to make improvements to campus security, including emergency communications, emergency procedures and training, and identifying at-risk students.
