Iowa City Police arrested a 20-year-old man and charged him in the assault of a 29-year veteran officer during a morning traffic stop earlier this month.
Police charged Branden Lee Plummer, 20, of Iowa City with the attempted murder of Sgt. Brian Krei, who has returned to duty. Sgt. Krei stopped Plummer on Nov. 18 for disrupting traffic.
Plummer is accused of getting behind Krei and applying a choke with his forearm, grabbing his own wrist to apply more pressure, reports Patch.

This is another example of the dangers of Traffic Stops that Officers make everyday. Hearing of about 10 incidents of this nature this past month concerns me a great deal as a Supervisor. It appears that respect for our Law Enforcement Officers have declined over the past few years. We must continue with training and be very alert when dealing with Traffic Stops we make. I send my best to the Sgt. Krie, and the IPD for pursuing the suspect.
