A Cottageville (S.C.) Police officer under investigation for fatally shooting the town's former mayor has been laid off by the city.
Officer Randall Price has been let go due to "budget constraints," according to the city. The FBI is currently investigating the May 16 shooting that left Reeves dead from a single gunshot wound to the chest. The police report lists the incident as an aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and lists Reeves as a suspect.
