A suspect who attempted to rob an armored car in Pinole, Calif., on Wednesday morning was fatally shot during a heist that involved two gunfights between officers and a security guard.
The heist began around 9:15 a.m. outside of a Wells Fargo, when two young men tried to rob a Loomis armored car with two guards at the Pinole Vista Crossing shopping center, just east of Interstate 80.
A guard and one suspect were shot during an initial gunfight before officers arrived. A Pinole Police Department officer who initially arrived was shot in the shoulder. Another officer confronted a suspect, ordered him not to reach for a pistol lying on the ground, and then fatally shot him when he ignored the order.
