Copper Thieves Cause $360K in Damage to School

Copper thieves did $360,000 worth of damage at Moya Elementary School in west Phoenix after destroying 30 of the school's air conditioning units to steal their copper coils.
A security officer contacted police after he spotted the thieves at 1:45 a.m. on July 24, The Arizona Republic reports. The police arrived with K-9 units, but the suspects - who fled on foot - got away.
Students will return to the school in August.
