Ex-NOPD Cop Details Katrina Cover-Up
July 07, 2011
|
Former New Orleans Police officer Michael Hunter gave the most detailed description to date of the cover-up of the Danziger Bridge shooting after Hurricane Katrina.
After the shootings that left two civilians dead and four seriously wounded, officers returned to the Crystal Palace reception hall they were using as a temporary headquarters. Officers who had fired their weapons were called to a round table with Lt. Michael Lohman and Sgt. Arthur Kaufman.
Eventually, the officers met at the flooded 7th District station, where they handed their weapons to members of the NOPD academy. They headed into the ruined station to tell their versions of what happened before giving formal statements to investigators.
