Charlotte Officer Seriously Hurt in Head-On Collision

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer was seriously injured Tuesday in a head-on collision in southwest Charlotte.
Officer Jim Guard was driving southbound on Steele Creek Road, police said, when his patrol car collided with a Jeep Liberty SUV traveling northbound around 2:12 p.m.
Police said a witness reported that the Jeep crossed the double yellow line on the two-lane road. The witness, police said, was traveling behind Guard's car.
