July 03, 2011  |

A Memphis Police officer was fatally shot investigating a domestic dispute at a downtown Doubletree Hotel on Sunday evening.

Officer Timothy Warren was hit by gunfire while inside the hotel. Officer Warren, 39, was apparently shot in the head and pronounced dead at the Regional Medical Center following the shooting.

The suspect, who is now in custody, had gone to the hotel to locate a woman. He shot and killed a man who was with the woman. The officer was climbing a stairwell when the suspect opened a door to a hotel floor, stepped out, and immediately shot him in the head.
