A Bath Township (Mich.) Police officer fatally shot a 49-year-old man who advanced toward him with a double-edge sword and ignored warnings to stop.
At a news conference Tuesday, Clinton County sheriff's Sgt. Fritz Sandberg and Bath Township Police Chief Scott Rose gave details of the incident. Chief Rose said his officer acted appropriately.
The incident began with a 911 call of a man beating a woman in a parking lot. When officers responded, Leon Roy Jones ran into his apartment, grabbed a sword and began advancing on the officers. He was shot three times.
