Sergio Robles apologized to the family of the Pasadena (Texas) Police officer he killed in August 2009 in a Houston courtroom on Thursday where he pleaded guilty to murder in exchange for a 40-year sentence.
Robles, a diagnosed schizophrenic with a history of mental illness, fatally shot Officer Jesse Hamilton, 29, after the officer answered a mental health call from Robles' mother.
Amy Hamilton, the officer's widow and the mother of the couple's two young daughters, told Robles: "I hope your life is so miserable that you look forward to death."
