Woman Accused of Killing Ore. Officer Suffered from Schizophrenia

April 26, 2011  |

The woman police believe gunned down a Eugene (Ore.) Police officer on Friday suffered from schizophrenia, her family members have said.

Cheryl Dawn Kidd, 56, was arraigned on Monday in Lane County Circuit Court on an aggravated murder charge in the killing of Officer Chris Kilcullen during an attempted traffic stop.

A neighbor described Kidd as "a nice lady … but when she was trying to talk to me, she was not coherent. Nothing made sense."
