Eugene (Ore.) Police Officer Chris Kilcullen was fatally shot while pursuing a female suspect who was captured after she was surrounded by a SWAT team 20 miles away.
Officer Chris Kilcullen, a 12-year veteran of the force, had pulled alongside the 1998 Buick Skylark driven by Cheryl Kidd, 56, at a red light in Springfield. When Kilcullen, 43, motioned to Kidd to pull over, the woman pulled out a handgun and opened fire, fatally wounding the officer, reports The Register-Guard.
Kidd then sped away, and Springfield police officers eventually chased her to the dead end of a U.S. Forest Service Road.
On Monday, officers recovered the .38-caliber revolver they believe was used by Kidd in the shooting.
