Third Largest N.J. City Lays Off 125 Officers

The Paterson (N.J.) Police Department has laid off a fourth of its force, resulting in protests by a crowd of officers from the agency.
The officers took to city hall today to protest the 125 layoffs that were finalized Monday in the state's third largest city, reports The Star-Ledger.
The layoffs come as the city eliminates 392 municipal positions of a total work force of nearly 2,000 to address a $70 million budget deficit.
