NYPD Rape Complaints Jump 24%

The number of rape complaints filed with the New York Police Department jumped 24 percent during the first three months of the year, as compared with the same period during 2010, Commissioner Ray Kelly announced.

The NYPD logged 340 rape complaints in 2011, as compared with 274 in 2010. Brooklyn had the highest reported number (97), and Manhattan was second (86), reports the New York Daily News.
