California Deputy Fires at Subject During Traffic Stop

The deputies stopped 24-year-old Johnny Angel Ochoa, who was wanted on child endangerment and vandalism charges in Bay Point. After Ochoa gave the deputies a false name, he tried to speed away. One of the deputies had attempted to yank the keys out of the ignition of the vehicle, which struck the second deputy.

A Contra Costa County (Calif.) Sheriff's deputy fatally shot a 24-year-old man at a traffic stop who had tried to speed away from the deputies, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

The deputies stopped 24-year-old Johnny Angel Ochoa, who was wanted on child endangerment and vandalism charges in Bay Point. After Ochoa gave the deputies a false name, he tried to speed away. A deputy opened fire, hitting Ochoa in the abdomen.
