Past Tags Graffiti Artist's Current Notoriety

A graffiti artist known as "Smear" who has been compared to Jean-Michel Basquiat and is gaining notoriety as an artist may answer for his tagging past, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

Los Angeles District Attorney Carmen Trutanich is seeking an injunction that would prevent Cristian Gheorghiu, who now tags canvases rather than urban locations, from profiting from art bearing his signature tag.
