Vest Saves Philly Officer Shot by Suicidal Man

A Philadelphia police officer is uninjured following a physical struggle with a suicidal man who grabbed the officer's service weapon, reports Philly.com.
Officers Richard Nicoletti and Matthew McCarthy responded to a call at 3:20 Sunday at a North Philadelphia home of a man was on drugs and had a weapon. They arrived to find Carmelo Winans, 29, holding a knife to his own throat.
Officer Nicoletti and Winans struggled in the kitchen, with Winans grabbing the officer's gun and firing a shot that grazed the officer's vest. Hearing his partner yell, "He's got my gun," Officer McCarthy headed to aid his partner and fatally shot Winans.
