School Officer Who Faked Shooting Could Face Felony Charges
March 07, 2011

Los Angeles Police detectives have recommended felony charges against Los Angeles School Police Officer Jeffrey Stenroos for staging a shooting hoax that triggered a massive manhunt.
On Jan. 19, Strenroos claimed he had been shot by a man who was breaking into vehicles near a Woodland Hills high school, and that his ballistic vest had saved his life. When pressed for details, the officer said he accidentally shot himself; however, investigators don't believe that story either.
LAPD officials remain unclear about what happened in the case, reports the Los Angeles Times.
