Oklahoma Capt. Faces IA Probe for Not Ordering Force To Islamic Event

A Tulsa (Okla.) Police captain faces an internal investigation and could be disciplined for refusing an order to send officers to an event hosted by the Islamic Society of Tulsa.

Capt. Paul Fields apparently violated the department's obedience policy, when he declined to send the officers because he said the order conflicted with his personal religious convictions and violated his civil rights, reports News On 6.

Fields said he would readily respond, if it were a call for service, but declined an invitation to tour a mosque, watch a prayer service, meet Muslim leadership and receive a presentation of their beliefs because it wasn't related to his work as a police officer.
