10 Laid-Off Oakland Officers Return to Duty

Of the 80 Oakland Police officers laid off in July, 10 returned to duty Monday, fulfilling a promise by new Mayor Jean Quan, reports the Oakland Tribune.
The officers are expected to return to the streets in a week or two, after undergoing some retraining, including firearms qualification and being updated on changes to department policies.
