California Officer Shot During Pat-Down Search

A Ceres (Calif.) Police officer was shot by one of four suspects he was patting down in the parking lot of a convenience store earlier this morning, reports the Modesto Bee.
The shooting occurred just before 4 a.m. this morning in the parking lot of an mini-market.
An officer was conducting a pat-down search of a male in a group of two males and two females. The man got nervous, went to the ground, then got up, pulled out a gun and shot twice at the officer.
Neither bullet hit the officer, although one struck his car. The officer did not return fire. The officer took cover, and the suspect fled east on foot.
