Oakland Will Hire Back 10 of 80 Laid-off Officers

The city of Oakland will hire back 10 of the 80 Oakland PD officers who were laid off in July and repair aging vehicle in the patrol fleet, Mayor Jean Quan has announced.
The move brings the force to 666 sworn, and will cost about $500,000, funds expected to come from savings from positions of officers leaving that won't be filled, reports the Oakland Tribune.
