Lincoln City (Ore.) Police Officer Steven Dodds remained in critical condition Monday, after a driver he pulled over on a coastal highway late on Sunday shot him in the face.
Dodds, 45, is a decorated officer who was named Officer of the Year by his agency in 2009 and 2010, reports NWCN.
Dodds was shot four times, when he pulled over a vehicle apparently driven by suspect David Anthony Durham, 43, at about 11 p.m. After shooting Dodds, the driver of the 1984 Dodge SUV, sped south on Highway 101. Dodds called in his own "officer down" call to dispatchers; he was later airlifted to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.
