Video: Mehserle Sentenced To 2 Years
November 05, 2010
A judge has sentenced former BART officer Johannes Mehserle to two years in state prison for the fatal shooting of Oscar Grant during an arrest on Jan. 1 2009.
In issuing his sentence, Judge Robert Perry also threw out the gun enhancement, saying it was not supported by the evidence.
A Los Angeles jury convicted Mehserle of involuntary manslaughter in July. Mehserle had testified he accidentally killed Grant, mistakenly drawing his pistol when he meant to draw his TASER.
