Suspect Who Ambushed Louisiana Sergeant In Custody

A 24-year-old man who fatally shot a Shreveport (La.) Police officer during a drive-by ambush at a Circle K, reports the Shreveport Times.
Sgt. Tim Prunty, 44, was standing near his cruiser in uniform, when Chris Cope pulled into the convenience store parking lot and opened fire on the officer.
Cope was later aprehended and has confessed to Prunty, a 19-year-veteran described as a "police officer's police officer."

Sgt Tim Prunty was a great man taken much too soon.
A sad twist, for those reading this not from the Shreveport-Bossier area, is that the killer is the son of a retired SPD Captain.

RIP Brother sheepdog. What a sad issue for the victim's family, the Captain's family, and the brothers and sisters of Shreveport PD.
