A cloud of somberness hung over the funeral today of an El Paso police officer killed in a traffic collision with an alleged drunken driver.
Several hundred law enforcement officers were there to say goodbye to Officer Karl McDonough, 41.
Among those who attended the Mass were officers from the El Paso Police Department, El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Las Cruces Police Department.
The officers were part of a procession that included about 75 police motorcycles and 70 police cars. They followed a white hearse and white limousine from Martin Funeral Home to St. Mark's Catholic Church, 11700 Pebble Hills.
