Two Officers Sue Illinois Pastor for Defamation

Two Rockford (Ill.) Police officers have sued a local pastor who repeatedly referred to a deadly force encounter as "murder," despite having information that contradicted that claim, reports the Rockford Register Star.

A complaint filed as part of a pending federal case alleges that the Rev. Melvin Brown, "with actual knowledge of the falsity or reckless disregard for the truth or falsity," called the shooting "murder" several times, accusing officers Oda Poole and Stan North of a crime and damaging their reputations.
