Chicago Officers Protest Manpower Shortage, Call for New Top Cop

"We've got to show the public that the reality on the street is we are desperately short-handed,'' the report quotes Officer David Garza as saying. "There has been a lot of times when people call for back up and it takes five minutes.''

More than 300 Chicago Police officers marched in protest of Superintendent Jody Weis and demanded an increase in manpower, the Sun-Times reports.

"More manpower, no Weis,'' they chanted, as squad cars and fire trucks drove by honking in unison.
