Suspect Who Shot N.C. Deputy Had Lengthy Criminal Record

The 51-year-old man who allegedly shot a Cleveland County (N.C.) Sheriff's deputy on Sunday evening has a lengthy criminal record and had been sentenced to 40 years in prison in 1989, reports the Charlotte Observer.

Otis Lynn Short, 51, was arrested at his home Monday morning and is a "person of interest" in the shooting of deputy Tim Elmore.
