Texas Cops Make Arrest In State's Oldest Unsolved Cop Killer Case

Gary Wayne Pettigrew is suspected of killing Tribble, 38, while the officer was returning to work after dropping off cough medicine to his ailing son.

Police announced an arrest of the man suspected of fatally shooting Farmers Branch (Texas) PD's officer Lowell Clayton "L.C." Tribble exactly 27 years after the slaying, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Prosecutors said they have new evidence in the case, but declined to reveal it at this time.

Gary Wayne Pettigrew is suspected of killing Tribble, 38, while the officer was returning to work after dropping off cough medicine to his ailing 2-year-old son. That son is now an officer in Arkansas.
