Seattle Confirms John Diaz As Chief

The Seattle City Council has confirmed John Diaz as the new chief of the Seattle Police Department. Diaz had became interim chief after the department of Gil Kerlikowske for a job with the Obama administration.
Diaz took over the department, despite initial objections from African-American community leaders who had objected to his support for Officer Ian Walsh, who was captured on video punching a jaywalking teen, the Seattle Times reports.
Kerlikowske left last year to become head of the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
