Detroit Mayor Forces Police Chief to Resign, Cites Poor Judgement

Mayor Dave Bing, who hired Chief Warren Evans one year ago, said he and Deputy Mayor Saul Green decided Tuesday night to ask the chief to resign based on decisions Evans made "that compromised his position as chief."
He would not specify, stating only that Evans exhibited poor judgment on "a combination of a lot of things ... over a period of time."
There has been speculation that Evans' participation in a reality-show video—he is seen holding an assault rifle and declaring he'll do "whatever it takes" to clean up the city—led to his departure, but talk of his ouster has been circulating around City Hall for weeks leading up to Wednesday.
