Police ID Man Shot By BART, Oakland PD After Foot Pursuit

July 19, 2010  |

Fred Collins, a 48-year-old man with a prior arrest for assaulting an officer, was fatally shot Saturday, after he lunged at offcers with a knife in each hand, reports SFGate.com.

The station was also the place, where former BART officer Johannes Mehserle fatally shot Oscar Grant III in Jan. 1, 2009. Mehserle was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and will be sentenced Nov. 5.
