Tampa Cop Killing Suspect Now Linked to 5 Murders

The man wanted in the shooting deaths of two police officers also is a suspect in a third homicide and is a "person of interest" in two more homicides, Tampa police Chief Jane Castor said Thursday.

The man wanted in the shooting deaths of two police officers also is a suspect in a third homicide and is a "person of interest" in two more homicides, Tampa police Chief Jane Castor said Thursday.

Castor named Dontae Rashawn Morris, 24, as a suspect in the death of Derek Anderson, 21, who was fatally shot at Kenneth Court Apartments in May. The complex was the scene of an intense but unsuccessful hunt for Morris Wednesday after police received a tip that he had been seen there.

The three homicides Castor cited are in addition to the deaths of Tampa police officers David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab, who were shot in the head during a traffic stop early Tuesday. Authorities have issued warrants and offered a $100,000 reward for Morris' arrest in the officers' deaths.
