California City Dismantles Police Department, Fires Officers

The Maywood (Calif.) PD will cease operation on July 1, following a decision by the city's council to disband it after failing to contract insurance services.
All the 60 members of the scandal-plagued department will be laid off, and the city will contract for law enforcement services with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the Los Angeles Times reports.
