Lancaster (Texas) PD's Officer Craig Shaw, who was killed in a shootout Sunday evening at an apartment complex, had won numerous departmental awards for meritorious conduct, myFOXdfw.com reports.
Shaw, who started at the department in January 2005, served on the Southern Regional Response Group (SRRG), a multi-jurisdictional emergency response tactical unit.
He was a certified firearms instructor by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education, a Range Safety Officer, an instructor of Gracie Combatives for Military and Law Enforcement, and instructor for PPCT Defensive Tactics.
