Interim Seattle Police Chief John Diaz has ordered an internal review of arrest proceedures, after a video posted to YouTube shows an officer punching a teenager in the face, after a jaywalking stop, SeattlePI.com reports.
The department announced today that it hasn't passed judgment on Officer Ian Walsh's actions until the investigation is complete. A video posted to YouTube Monday evening shows Walsh punching a 19-year-old girl who had grabbed him, as he was trying to arrest another teen at a South Seattle intersection.
Walsh had stopped the group of teens who were crossing a busy street rather than using a pedestrian overpass.
Walsh stopped a 17-year-old and ordered her to stop, as she walked away from him. The 19-year-old then grabbed the officer, who then punched her in the face.
