79 Washington Deputies To Receive Pink Slips

The King County (Wash.) Sheriff's Office has announced it will lay off 69 commissioned and 10 non-commissioned deputies, after the county council failed to approve a property tax initiative for an August vote, KOMO TV reports.
The tax would have worked out to about $34 more a year for the owner of a $400,000 home, but the lack of a supermajority approval sunk the measure.
