Georgia Deputy Killed by Rape Suspect Hiding In Closet

Rockdale County (Ga.) Sheriff's deputy Brian Mahaffey was shot and killed while he and other deputies were clearing a house during an investigation into a rape allegation, AJR.com reports.
The deputies were serving a search warrant a home, and had cleared most of the house. When a deputy opened the closet door of the master bedroom, the homeowner emerged and exchanged gunfire with the deputies.
Mahaffey was shot in the arm and abdomen, below his vest. Deputies administered CPR on Mahaffey, but the deputy did not survive.
