Judge Grants Bond for Michigan Militia Members

A federal judge has ruled that the nine Hutaree militia members who plotted to kill police officers should be released from custody until their trial.

U.S. District Judge Victoria A. Roberts also ruled that they will be subject to home detention and curfews, the Detroit News reports.

Alleged leader David Stone Sr. and eight followers were arrested in a series of raids in late March. A grand jury indictment charges them with seditious conspiracy and attempted use of weapons of mass destruction.

They plotted to kill a police officer, then use improvised bombs to attack other officers drawn to the funeral.
