Ex-Con Assaults Miami-Dade Officer With Cinder Block and Unmarked Patrol Car

An ex-con wanted by Miami police attacked a Miami-Dade officer with a cinder block and ran the detective over with his own unmarked patrol car before turning himself in, the Miami Herald reports.
Michael Paul Robertson assaulted Officer Carlos Castillo, while Robertson's girlfriend watched. Castillo, a detective and 15-year-veteran, had pulled over the ex-con, who fled.
While Castillo was questioning and handcuffing Monica Banks, Robertson returned with the cinder block. He also kicked the officer in the head and chest, then jumped into Castillo's unmarked Dodge Charger and drove over the officer.
