One person was killed and three were injured in a shooting Monday in Nevada's eastern valley that involved Las Vegas Metro Police.
Authorities responded at 1:58 p.m. to the Silver Pines apartment complex at 6650 E. Russell Road, which is east of Russell's intersection with Boulder Highway. The location is across the street from Silverbowl Park and is less than a mile from Sam Boyd Stadium.
Capt. Randy Montandon said a man shot three people, killing one person and injuring two others. Police then shot the gunman in the parking lot of the apartment complex after a confrontation.
The gunman and the two surviving victims were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. Authorities aren't sure how many officers fired at the suspect and it wasn't immediately clear what prompted police to draw a weapon, although investigators said the man did have a gun when police shot him.
