NYPD Officers Acquitted in Sodomy Trial Face June Civil Trial

Brooklyn Federal Judge Jack Weinstein severed the city from the civil case, ruling Michael Mineo should pursue allegations of excessive force, false arrest and malicious prosecution against the officers first.

Cops acquitted in the NYPD sodomy case will face a civil trial before the city does, a judge ruled Monday.

Michael Mineo, who claims he was rammed with a police baton during a pot-smoking bust, filed a $440 million claim against four cops and the city.

Brooklyn Federal Judge Jack Weinstein severed the city from the civil case, ruling Mineo should pursue allegations of excessive force, false arrest and malicious prosecution against the officers first.

Trial is set for June 7.
