Providence Grand Jury Indicts Officer For Assault

A grand jury has indicted Providence (R.I.) detective Robert DeCarlo, a 16-year police veteran and a member of the elite robbery squad, Projo.com reports.
DeCarlo, 45, was purportedly captured by video surveillance cameras striking Luis Mendonca, 20, and kicking him in the head while arresting him. Mendonca's attorney claims the officer struck his client with a duty flashlight while Mendonca was handcuffed.
DeCarlo and other officers apprehended Mendonca in a parking lot, following a report an armed robbery suspect had assaulted two officers.
