PROTECH Tactical Expands Line of IMPAC Special Threat Plates

January 29, 2010  |

Safariland announced the expansion of its PROTECH line of IMPAC special threat plates. The line of IMPAC special threat plates can be quickly and easily inserted into the front and/or back external plate pockets of a concealable body armor carrier used by patrol, corrections, first responders and security officers. The IMPAC special threat plates are designed to be worn with concealable body armor for ballistic and/or stab protection against specific special threats.

All IMPAC plates are offered in four sizes: 5" x 8" - the standard size; 5" x 7" - for shorter torso lengths and/or female officers; 7" x 9" - for expanded torso protection; and, 10" x 12" - shooter's cut designed for greater mobility. In addition, Safariland has also released a new concealable carrier specifically designed to complement the line of new IMPAC plates. The FRP ("front and rear pockets") carrier gives officers the ability to add IMPAC plates within a concealable carrier platform, and is available in Safariland's ABA Universal AJ and Second Chance Apex concealable carriers.

PROTECH's line of IMPAC plates includes:

  • PROTECH IMPAC-HT (Handgun Threat) - Protection against high velocity handgun threats
  • PROTECH IMPAC-CT (Corrections Threat) - Protection against spike and P1/S1 edged blade weapons
  • PROTECH IMPAC-MT (Multi-Threat) - Protection against high velocity handgun threats, spike, and P1/S1 edged blade weapons. A combination of the IMPAC-HT and IMPAC-CT, the IMPAC-MT offers protection against additional threats
  • PROTECH IMPAC-RT (Rifle Threat) - Rifle protection against 7.62 mm x 51 mm 147-grain FMJ and 7.62 mm x 39 mm 123-grain MSC

"Our line of IMPAC special threat plates offers the widest variety of threat protection for law enforcement officers," said Dan McNeil, Category Director for PROTECH Tactical. "Today's threats are increasing, and officers need the ability to adapt protection based on the function they perform. Our IMPAC plates allow officers to reinforce protection for their body armor based on those needs."
