A former aerospace engineer who carjacked and killed Los Angeles International Airport officer Thomas Scott has been sentenced to life in prison without parole, the Los Angeles Times reports.

William Sadowski, 51, carjacked Scott's patrol vehicle in April 2005, dragging the officer for a quarter of a mile before striking a fire hydrant, killing the officer instantly.

Sadowski was found guilty of first-degree murder in November.
