One of the Slain Washington Officers Identified

One of the four Lakewood police officers killed this morning has been identified on Facebook and by one Eastern U.S. television station as Mark Renninger.

Renninger grew up in Lehigh Valley, Pa., according to WFMZ's Web site.

Renninger's family told the WFMZ station they are too grief stricken to comment. He was born and raised in Bethlehem and was in the military.

Earlier today, a Facebook page was created in memory of Renninger, with many posters offering their support to his widow and children.

On the Facebook page, Brenda Rex remembers accompanying Renninger on a ride-along, when he worked for the Tukwila Police Department. She has "fond memories of Mark's great sense of humor as well as his professionalism."
